Lonely Planet Votes Northern Ireland Top Destination 2018

You cannot get much better praise than topping the poll in the Lonely Planet Guide to Top Destinations, but Belfast and the Causeway Coast have done just that. Alongside the likes of Seville in Spain and Tallinn in Estonia, our destination received top praise from some of the world’s best travel writers.

One of the few upsides from Brexit has been the devaluing of the pound against the dollar and the Euro. But that is great news for those travelling to the UK, of which Northern Ireland is part. Favourable exchange rates mean that a visit here has never been better valued for money.

InSite offers amazing trips, including our Northern Highlights Tour, taking in Belfast and the Causeway Coastal Route. Start with a tour of Belfast city, featuring Belfast City Hall, the University Quarter, the home of the Titanic and the murals and peace walls of West Belfast.

Then join the wonderful Causeway Coastal Route, started in 1832 to connect Belfast to the coastal communities of the North East and completed in 1842. Gasp in amazement at the sea views, the stunning nine Glens of Antrim, beautiful coastal villages including Glenarm with its enchanting gothic castle, Carnlough with its tranquil limestone harbour and Cushendall, where you can enjoy a seafood lunch of locally caught fish.

Journey further north where you can enjoy an amazing view of Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge from the clifftop promontory of Portnareevy (Visit the Bridge is an Option but Allow up the 3 Hours). A short time later we will arrive at the Giant’s Causeway where you can take the cliff-top walk to truly appreciate this natural wonder, then visit the unique geometric stones themselves as the fall away into the Atlantic Ocean.
